What branding is and why you need to focus on it in your business.
There’s a big difference between branding yourself and marketing. Branding is creating a name for yourself and focusing on recognition, while marketing is about lead generation. Here at Giving Tree, we’ve started to focus much more on branding, and there’s a good reason why.
First, let’s define these terms more. When it comes to branding, Some people like to create themes that all of their materials focus around, whether that be a color theme, picture-based theme, or a similar motif. Marketing is about generating leads; the best part is that you can do it on your own. If you’re waiting for your broker to give you leads, you’re not doing enough in the business.
Why is branding important? People want to relate to who they want to do business with. Making videos or posting on social media isn’t necessarily about getting leads; they’re about branding yourself and making sure people know you do real estate. If you try to be fake with your branding, then it won’t work; people won’t be interested. So if you don’t do social media normally, then don’t do it as an agent. Make sure your brand looks like you.
“Branding is about creating a name for yourself.”
You have to think about how you want to come across. Do you want to use your broker’s logo, or do you want to make your own? What colors do you want to use, which font do you prefer, and do you need more photos of yourself? Finally, is there a niche you like to focus on?
You need a USP, or a unique sales pitch. Think about it like a tagline. A few years ago, everyone started picking up the idea of paying cash for your home or guaranteeing to sell your home in a certain time. The only issue is that once everyone was doing that, it wasn’t unique anymore, so Giving Tree refocused on sharing our philanthropy. You’ll need to think about your USP for your business.
